Dragon Island is a 5-reel, 3-row NetEnt slot notable as the studio’s first slot to introduce the Win Both Ways mechanic, playing on 15 fixed paylines that pay left-to-right and right-to-left, set on a fantasy island populated by two rival dragon symbols.

Because all 15 paylines pay both ways, a single strong symbol run can complete winning combinations reading in either direction, effectively doubling the combination coverage of a standard fixed-payline slot without adding more paylines. A winged pewter-dragon wild substitutes for regular symbols throughout, and landing a win via the both-ways mechanic can trigger a Golden Wild that boosts the payout further. Three or more scatter symbols trigger free spins with scaling multipliers — 10 spins at 3× for three scatters, 20 spins at 10× for four, or 50 spins at 100× for five — and during the round an Expanding Wild appears on a random reel before each spin, covering it entirely.
Pros
- Win Both Ways paylines double the combination coverage of a standard fixed-line slot
- Free spins scale up to 50 spins with a 100× multiplier on five scatters
- Expanding Wild during free spins can cover an entire reel each round
- Historically notable as NetEnt’s first Win Both Ways title
Cons
- No official max-win or release-year figure currently published by the manufacturer
- Feature set is fairly thin outside the both-ways-pay mechanic
- Delisted from NetEnt’s current live game catalog, though still available through licensed casino platforms
